It’s a good idea to start out with a budget camera, and then invest in a better camera if you take this hobby to the next level.

Learning photography skills can be done by for example reading tutorials and reference material online, or buying a book that you can follow at your own pace. A different approach is to take photography classes and learn the basics there. Both these approaches are great, but classes are probably a lot more expensive than online courses or books.

It goes with out saying that taking pictures is an important part of learning photography skills. You should constantly test out what you are learning through reading, study, and classes, on your own. That way you are to link theory to practical skills. And if you ever hit a wall and can’t figure out what you are doing wrong, do a search for photography forums and ask an expert for help.
