The reason Rett Syndrome and constipation problems are so tightly related is because some the behaviors of Rett Syndrome lead to constipation. For example, neurological problems that are associated with Rett Syndrome can also slow down the nerve messages telling the body to eliminate waste. The longer the slowdown, the more likely there is a chance for constipation. Additionally, motor skills are compromised with Rett Syndrome which can also impact the body’s ability to contract muscles as it should to process waste through the digestive tract.
There are a couple of things that can be done to lessen its impact, and here they are: Colon Cleansing, Dieting, Hydration, Exercise.
